Four words, honestly

FOUR exists because four words are hard to perform in. Say the true thing. That is the whole culture.

Swearing is allowed

Profanity is not a violation here. "quit the fucking job" is often more honest than a tidier version, and sanding that down would defeat the point of the product.

If you would rather not see it, turn on the explicit-language filter in your profile. It masks profanity for you without silencing anyone else. Your filter is your choice; your words are theirs.

The line is not rudeness. The line is harm.

What is not allowed

Slurs and dehumanising language aimed at people for who they are — race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.

Threats of violence, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.

Sexual content involving minors, in any form. This is reported to the authorities, always.

Targeted harassment, including using four-word openers to reach someone who does not want to hear from you.

Posting someone's private information.

Impersonating a real person.

How this is enforced

Some terms are blocked outright when you try to post them.

Anyone can report a post or a person, and a human reviews it.

You can block anyone. Blocking is immediate, silent, and mutual in effect — their words disappear from your feed and yours from theirs.

Openers are limited to a few a day, so nobody can be flooded.

Consequences run from removing a post to removing an account, depending on severity and history.

If you are struggling

FOUR is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency. If you are thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line. Four words are welcome here, but they are not a substitute for someone who can actually help.
